Improving Bio-Emergency Response for the U.S. and its Allies
The Consortium for the Rapid Aseptic Filling of Injectable Drugs (RAPID) is a public-private partnership dedicated to helping the United States and its allies more quickly and effectively manufacture, package, and transport injectable medicines and vaccines in a national health emergency.
Born from a partnership between private industry and the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR), part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the RAPID Consortium looks to explore how modern drug packaging and delivery technologies, such as Blow-Fill-Seal and others, can strengthen national security and emergency response.
RAPID is a non-profit 501(c)6 organization headquartered in Connecticut.
Faster, Stronger Bio-Emergency Response
Our mission is to enable countries to more quickly and efficiently manufacture and deliver the injectable medicines they need to protect their people in a bio-emergency.
Valuable Input from U.S. Government Leaders and Respected Health Experts
RAPID members and our Board of Directors work on a close, ongoing basis with leaders of responsible U.S. Government departments and agencies, including:
- The HHS Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR)
- The U.S. Strategic National Stockpile (SNS)
- Other authorities within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services who focus on bio-emergency response.
In addition, RAPID enjoys advisory input from respected academic experts in relevant fields such as virology, biothreats, and related disciplines. All of these governmental and scientific leaders serve on RAPID’s Health Emergency Advisory Committee (HEAC).
Their guidance can help to fast-track R&D projects proposed by RAPID and its members to relevant U.S. Government agencies.
